TIM PRICE-Ardrey Kell HS, Charlotte NC
Team Carolina 2005- 2008 Head Coach

Tim Price was recently named the head lacrosse coach at Ardrey Kell High School in South Charlotte which opened its doors in August 2006.  Before arriving at Ardrey Kell High School, Price was an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Providence Day School.  The Chargers compiled a 34-6 record over the Price's two seasons on staff.  His defensive units allowed opponents only 7.0 goals per game.  In 2006, the Chargers fell in the NCISAA championship game by a score of 11-10.  At the conclusion of the 2006 season, Price was honored as the Man of the Year by the NCISAA for his on and off field service.

While in Charlotte, Price has devoted his summers to coaching lacrosse with Team Carolina, Team Charlotte and numerous summer camps.  Price has coached at the under 17, 15, and 11 levels while with Team Charlotte.  He led Team Carolina to a 12-5 record against national competition during their inaugural summer.  In 2007, Team Carolina posted a 12-3 record and was ranked fifth at Champ Camp.

Before his arrival in Charlotte, Price served six seasons at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. After two seasons as an assistant coach, Price was named as Head Coach in 1997 and placed in charge of guiding Quinnipiac from Division II status to Division I. At the time of Quinnipiac’s elevation to Division I, Price was the youngest NCAA Division I Head Lacrosse Coach. In 1999, Quinnipiac posted an 8-7 record in their first season of Division I. Price’s squad tied for second place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference after being picked to finish last.  In 2001, Quinnipiac cruised to a 13-0 record before finishing the season 14-2. Quinnipiac went 9-0 to win the MAAC regular season title outright earning Price MAAC Coach of the Year honors. In 2002 Price engineered the most potent offense in Division I, averaging nearly 17 goals a game. In addition, Price recruited and developed the 2001 Division I points leader Joe Baglio.

Tim Price is a 1995 graduate of Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. As a player Price was a four year letterman at Division III power Ithaca College. While at Ithaca, the Bombers earned a #3 national ranking, advanced to a national semi-final and won an ECAC championship.  He led the Bombers in goals scored over the span of his final two seasons at Ithaca as an attackman.  Price is a native of Kings Park, NY and was a three time all-league/all-county player at Kings Park High School where he holds school records for goals in a game (9) and career goals (147).  Price resides in Matthews, North Carolina with his wife Angela, four year old son Jackson and one year old daughter Mia.

JEFF MILES -Christ School, Arden, NC
Team Carolina 2008 Assistant Coach

Christ School Head Coach, Jeff Miles will assist Adrey Kell and Team Carolina Head Coach, Tim Price this summer. The Bel Air, MD native brings over 20 years of experience to Team Carolina. Coach Miles played his high school lacrosse at The John Carroll School. During his career, Miles led the team in assists for two seasons and won three consecutive MIAA championships. He was also named an all conference selection.
Miles then moved on to play college lacrosse at Mars Hill where he was a two time “Most Valuable Player” and team captain. During his three year career as a midfielder, Miles accumulated 116 points, and broke the school record for groundballs in a season. He was nominated for all-american honors in his junior season.
After college, Miles was selected to the Victorian Lacrosse Association (Australia) to play and coach. While playing, Miles led his team in goals and received the “Best and Fairest Award”. In addition, he coached the under 17 Melbourne team to a 7-2 record.
In 2002, Miles founded the first high school lacrosse program in Western North Carolina at Christ School. Since that time, the Greenies have won two out of three conference championships and advanced to the state final four the past two years. In 2006. Miles was awarded both the PACIS Conference and North Carolina State "Coach of the Year" awards. In 2007, he again received the PACIS conference "Coach of the Year" award. 2008 marks the start of his seventh season at Christ School.

Dan McMahon, Assistant Coach -Adrey Kell HS. Coach McMahon is a graduate of Queens University of Charlotte, where he had a distinguished three-year career. While he was playing for the Royals, Dan was regarded as one of the top Division II face-off midfielders. Before arriving at Queens, Dan played for coaching legend and Hall of Fame Member Paul Wehrum at Herkimer Community College in upstate New York. In 2003 the Generals went 18-0 to complete an undefeated season and won the Junior College National Championship. Dan also earned Academic All-American honors while at Herkimer. A native of Syracuse, NY, where he attended and played lacrosse at Central Square High School under Tom O’Hara, Coach McMahon has both international and local playing experience. Dan is currently a member of the Charlotte Lacrosse Club. Coach McMahon has been actively involved with the Charlotte lacrosse community since 2004. In addition to his playing and coaching experience, Dan has a degree in elementary education from Queens University.

 

MarkGoldsmith - South East Guilford HS, Greensboro NC

Team Carolina 2007 Assistant Coach

Mark Goldsmith just completed his 12th year at Southeast Guilford High School where he founded the lacrosse program in 1996 and teaches Spanish.  In 2007, SE Guilford made its 9th straight NCHSLA playoff appearance.  In 2000, he led SE Guilford to the State Championship and in 1999 was runner-up. 
Coach Goldsmith's tremendous lacrosse background includes coaching stints at all levels of the game.  He was the Head Coach of Guilford College from 1990-1993 and iscurrently the second winningest coach in Guilford College history with a record of 30-24. 
In the summer of 2006, Coach Goldsmith was the Offensive Coordinator for the Major League Lacrosse Chicago Machine. In addition to his coaching duties, Goldsmith is among the top NCAA lacrosse officials in the nation.  Among his other accomplishments, Goldsmith is the founder of The Old North State Lacrosse School which is in its twelfth year of existence and Old North State Lacrosse Club.  Goldsmith founded Triad Youth Lacrosse Association in 1991 while coaching at Guilford College.
Mark Goldsmith is a 1981 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio.  As a player, Goldsmith was a four year letterman for the Battling Bishops.  The Long Island native now resides in Jamestown, North Carolina with his wife Kathy and their four children Jay, Sammi, Katie, and Sean.

Mike Curatolo-Cardinal Gibbons HS, Raleigh NC
Team Carolina 2006 Assistant Coach

Coach Curatolo just completed his 11th and most successful season at the helm of Cardinal Gibbons High School lacrosse team in Raleigh, North Carolina.  In 2006 Coach Curatolo led the Crusaders to victory in the NCHSLA 3-A State Championship game. During his tenure he has guided the lacrosse team to ten consecutive NCISAA post-season appearances including a trip to the state finals in 2004 and to the state semi-finals four out of the last five years. 

He was named NCISAA Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2004.  In 2002, he coached the South squad in the US Lacrosse High School National Showcase in Amherst, Massachusetts.  Mike is a 1994 graduate of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York where he earned his BA in Psychology and was a four year lacrosse letterman and a Captain his senior year.  He earned his Masters degree in School Administration in 2005 from Marymount University. 

A native of Levittown, New York, Mike currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife Christine and daughter Caitlin.  He is currently the Assistant Principal for Student Life at Cardinal Gibbons High School.

 

Mike Gambrill
Team Carolina 2005 Assistant Coach

Since his graduation from Pfeiffer University in 1997, Coach Gambrill has worked with the varsity lacrosse program at Providence Day School and in 2004 was Coach Price’s assistant at Charlotte Latin. After exploring several high school lacrosse positions in 2005, Coach Gambrill decided to turn his expertise to the middle school ranks demonstrating the importance of teaching younger players in the area. Coach Gambrill just completed his second season as the head coach of the vaunted South Charlotte Cyclones. Under Coach Gambrill's guidance the South Charlotte Cyclones have become the best middle school lacrosse team in the South.  In two seasons they are undefeated against middle school competition in NC, GA & Tennessee with only four losses in two seasons (two at the hands of JV teams and two against Baltimore teams). In 2007 Mike accepted the head coaching position at Myers Park HS in Charlotte.

A four year starter at close defense for Division II Pfeiffer University, Coach Gambrill was named all-conference in 1997, team captain in his junior and senior seasons and lead Pfeiffer to conference championships in 1996 & 1997. As a high school player in New Jersey, Mike was selected to play in the prestigious North South All Star Game.

A native of Flemington, New Jersey, Gambrill now resides in Charlotte with his wife Melissa. He owns and operates the LAX ZONE Charlotte a lacrosse retail specialty store for gear and apparel.

About the Team Carolina Staff

The best available high school coaches will be invited each year to travel with the teams. The team will have one offensive specialist and one defensive specialist at each event. The same coaches will be at both events. The coaches will be selected from different parts of the Carolinas each year. High school coaches in the Carolinas that are interested in coaching Team Carolina are encouraged to complete a coaches application and follow up with us at your convenience.
